Stop and Frisk is a site responsive installation by Israeli, Brooklyn-based artist Tirtzah Bassel. Using duct tape to ‘paint’ images directly on the walls of the Strivers Gardens Gallery in Harlem, Bassel depicts scenes of confrontation between police and civilians in New York City. Bassel was invited to create a piece for Motown to Def Jam, an art exhibition in celebration of African-American Music Appreciation Month, pays tribute to socially conscious music created by recording artists from Chess Records, Stax Records, Motown, Philadelphia International Records and Def Jam.
